Acccording to ABS-CBN News Report, two earthquakes hit the provinces of Laguna and Marinduque before dawn Friday, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs) said.
The first quake, which has a magnitude of 3.1, occurred 7 kilometers (kms) southeast of Santa Cruz, Laguna at 1:26 a.m. It had a depth of 19 kms.

Intensity 2 was felt at Santa Cruz and Nagcarlan in Laguna; and Lucban in Quezon Province.
At 4:43 a.m., a magnitude 3.1 quake with a depth of 29 kms occurred 50 kilometers southeast of Boac, Marinduque.
No casualty or damage was reported in the two earthquakes, which were both tectonic in origin.
Likewise, no aftershocks are expected.
According to the US Geological Survey, magnitude and intensity measure different characteristics of earthquakes. Magnitude measures the energy released at the source of the earthquake. Intensity measures the strength of shaking produced by the quake at a certain location.
