iPhone 5 Officially Launched : Apple Unveils Faster, Thinner iPhone

Apple® today announced iPhone® 5, the thinnest and lightest iPhone ever, completely redesigned to feature a stunning new 4-inch Retina™ display; an Apple-designed A6 chip for blazing fast performance; and ultrafast wireless technology*—all while delivering even better battery life.** iPhone 5 comes with iOS 6, the world’s most advanced mobile operating system with over 200 new features including: the all new Maps app with Apple-designed cartography and turn-by-turn navigation; Facebook integration; Passbook® organization; and even more Siri® features and languages.

"iPhone 5 is the most beautiful consumer device that we’ve ever created,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “We’ve packed an amazing amount of innovation and advanced technology into a thin and light, jewel-like device with a stunning 4-inch Retina display, blazing fast A6 chip, ultrafast wireless, even longer battery life; and we think customers are going to love it."

iPhone 5 is the thinnest smartphone in the world, with an all-new 7.6 mm anodized aluminum body that is 18 percent thinner and 20 percent lighter than iPhone 4S. Designed with an unprecedented level of precision, iPhone 5 combines an anodized aluminum body with diamond cut chamfered edges and glass inlays for a truly incredible fit and finish.

The new 4-inch Retina display on iPhone 5 delivers even more pixels than iPhone 4S, making the already incredible Retina display even better. By making the screen taller, not wider, iPhone 5 is just as easy to use with one hand so you can tap, type and scroll the same way you always have, while enjoying even more of your content including amazing apps optimized for the larger Retina display, widescreen HD video, a full five days of your Calendar and more of every web page.

iPhone 5 supports ultrafast wireless standards including LTE and DC-HSDPA, so you can browse, download and stream content even faster. To support the latest LTE technology, Apple has pioneered a unique single-radio LTE solution that provides blazing fast speeds while fitting perfectly into the new remarkably thin design. iPhone 5 features dual-band 802.11n Wi-Fi support for a wireless experience up to 150 Mbps.***

The all-new A6 chip was designed by Apple to maximize performance and power efficiency to support all the incredible new features in iPhone 5, including the stunning new 4-inch Retina display—all while delivering even better battery life. With up to twice the CPU and graphics performance, almost everything you do on iPhone 5 is blazing fast for launching apps, loading web pages and downloading email attachments.

The 8 megapixel iSight® camera is the most popular camera in the world and with iPhone 5, it’s even better. The new camera is completely redesigned with incredible optical performance, yet amazingly it’s 25 percent smaller than the camera in iPhone 4S. The new iSight camera in iPhone 5 features a sapphire crystal lens cover that is thinner and more durable than standard glass with the ability to provide crystal clear images. The new panorama feature lets you capture jaw-dropping panorama images of up to 28 megapixels by simply moving the camera across a scene in one smooth motion. New video features include improved stabilization, video face detection for up to 10 faces and the ability to take still photos as you record. A new FaceTime® HD front facing camera makes FaceTime calls incredibly clear and can also be used for self portraits and recording 720p HD video. iPhone 5 also allows you to share photos with friends and family using iCloud’s Shared Photo Streams.

iPhone 5 features the new Lightning™ connector that is smaller, smarter and more durable than the previous connector. The all-digital Lightning connector features an adaptive interface that uses only the signals that each accessory requires, and it’s reversible so you can instantly connect to your accessories. The Lightning-to-30-pin Adapter is also available to connect iPhone 5 to legacy 30-pin accessories.****

iPhone 5 introduces new enhanced audio features including a new beam-forming, directional microphone system for higher quality sound, while background noise fades away with new noise canceling technology. iPhone 5 now includes support for cellular wideband audio for crisper word clarity and more natural sounding speech. Wideband audio will be supported by over 20 carriers worldwide at launch. iPhone 5 comes with the new Apple EarPods™ featuring a breakthrough design for a more natural fit and increased durability, and an incredible acoustic quality typically reserved for higher-end earphones.

How to Access all your online storage from one place

How to Access all your online storage from one place

Hojoki pulls all your files, posts and events from different cloud apps into one place. you can then edit and organize them, or move them around.

Hojoki also lets you create ‘workspaces’ where you can plan holidays, or work on projects with lots of people without having to give them access to files spread across accounts.

For example, you could have an itinerary saved in Google drive, an event planned in Google calendar, a conversation on twitter, reminders in ever note and photos in Dropbox and, with Hojoki, your friends and family can see all the relevant files from just one link.

If you connect to Hojoki using your Google account, or Facebook, you will also get the option to see what your friends have been up to on the different sites – but only what they have set as public. You can also sign up using email and add people manually. Hojoki is available as an android and iOS app, too.

    1. Give your account a name and click next. Select each web service you want to add. Hojoki will open the service in a pop-up window and ask for your login details. You may need to grant Hojoki access. Click next and then ‘let’s go!’

    2. All your files and folders will now be imported to my cloud. Click ‘finish’ when prompted. Your recent files and folders are shown in the right-hand panel. Find files by using the search box, or you can filter by type of data.

    3. Click a file to open it using its original program. Expand entries by clicking the arrow. You can download the file, see event details and notes, or delete it. Clicking delete removes the file from Hojoki and its original location.

    4. To share files with colleagues and friends so they can edit them, click ‘create workspace’. Name and label it. Then add members using their email addresses. You can delete members by clicking ‘remove’. To finish, click ‘create workspace’.

    5. To add files to a workspace, select the workspace and click the cog icon that appears. Under the content tab click ‘add content’. Choose a connected app and press ‘configure content’. Choose the relevant files or calendars and click ‘add content’.

    6. Repeat step 5 for all the files you want to add to your workspace, from each of your different apps. If you make a mistake and choose the wrong app, click ‘select another platform’ to choose a different app from your list.

    7. To prevent sharing certain files, click delete next to the relevant folder or app in the content tab. add new people to your workspace by clicking the member tab and ‘add person’. You can also make other people administrators.

    8. On the ‘workspace settings’ tab you can rename the workspace, leave it, or delete it from your Hojoki account. You can also choose another color label. To close your workspace, click the cross.

    9. Change your Hojoki account settings by clicking the cog icon. Under the profile tab you can change your name, profile image and password, as well as delete the account. You can also manage your email subscriptions. Under Theming you can choose wallpaper.

    10. Click each account icon to see its sync status. To add a new account, click the plus sign, select the app from the list and click ‘I’m done’. Remove accounts by clicking their icon and choosing delete. Sign out using the on button.

Maria Lourdes Sereno, new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court | Profile

Maria Lourdes Sereno, new Chief Justice of the Supreme Court | Profile

President Aquino on Friday appointed Associate Justice Maria Lourdes Punzalan Aranal-Sereno as the 24th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court.

"In the midst of this period of deep mourning for the loss of Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo, the President is cognizant of his constitutional duty to appoint the next Chief Justice of the Philippines. He has therefore decided to appoint Associate Justice Maria Lourdes Punzalan Aranal-Sereno as the 24th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court," a statement from Malacañan read.

It added: "The President is confident that Chief Justice Sereno will lead the judiciary in undertaking much-needed reforms. We believe the Judicial Branch of government has a historic opportunity to restore our people's confidence in the judicial system."

Speaking to ANC, Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda acknowledged that President Aquino is breaking tradition by appointing the youngest of the current Supreme Court magistrates to lead the judiciary.

Asked why the President appointed a Chief Justice who will stay for 18 years before retiring, Lacierda said the appointment of a young Chief Justice was anticipated by the Constitution.
"You have a requirement wherein a person may become Justice of the Supreme Court at the age of 40 and retire at the age of 70. Therefore, anybody within that range is capable of becoming appointed Chief Justice," he said.
"Now, we are breaking tradition in a sense that the President did not appoint someone who is near retirement and obviously Chief Justice Sereno is I think the youngest Chief Justice. If I am not mistaken, she is 52 years old. She will have a full 18 years to implement reforms in the judiciary and we are hoping that the reforms will take root as the years go by," he added.

The spokesman said the President talked to the different nominees for the Chief Justice post before coming to the conclusion that Sereno "is the best person to institute reforms in the judiciary."

He also said Aquino's decision to announce Sereno's appointment while the nation is in mourning for the late DILG chief Jesse Robredo is only a recognition of the need to appoint a new Chief Justice within the constitutional period of apointment.

Who is Chief Justice Maria Loudres Sereno?

Associate Justice Maria Lourdes A. Sereno is the first appointee to the Supreme Court (SC) by Pres. Noynoy Aquino and the youngest among the nominees for Chief Justice coming from the high tribunal.

Twitter War Between Abigail Valte and Teddy Locsin Jr.

Twitter War Between Abigail Valte and Teddy Locsin Jr.

A member of the 12-man House contingent to the powerful Commission on Appointments (CA) said he will endorse the confirmation of Jesse Robredo as secretary of the Department of Interior and Local Government -- even if posthumously.

"My family and I mourn with his family and the nation for the loss of an icon in good governance, industry and humility. As he is set to be confirmed on August 29 and subject to CA rules, I would endorse his confirmation even if posthumously," Alagad party-list Representative Rodante Marcoleta said.

After three days of search and rescue operations, Robredo's body was recovered 800 meters from the shores of Masbate at a depth of 180 meters Tuesday morning. The late official is set for confirmation by the CA on August 29.

In his Twitter account, Paranaque Representative Roilo Golez said the CA was scheduled to confirm Robredo last Wednesday, August 15, but had to postpone it because they wanted to attend the Requiem Mass and necrological service for their colleague, Sorsogon Representative Salvador Escudero III, who died last week.

"In fact, I talked to Secretary Robredo last Tuesday and assured him of CA support. We were deprived the honor of confirming one of the best in the Cabinet," Golez said. "Rest in peace Secretary Jesse Robredo. You served your country and your people well. Your place is secure in the history of public service," he added.
