NatGeo Photo Contest Extended Until July 11

>
The 24th Annual National Geographic Traveler Photo Contest which started last April 5, 2012 and was scheduled to end on June 28 has been extended until July 11, 2012 at 11:59 p.m. ET, according to National Geographic‘s official website.

Entry received between 12:00 a.m. ET on June 28, 2012 and 11:59 p.m. ET on July 11, 2012 will get an additional entry fee of US$10 as stated on their official rules.

This year’s photo contest is divided into four categories which will showcase travel portraits, outdoor scenes, sense of place and spontaneous moments.

Entries will be evaluated twice. A panel of photographic experts will select ten entries from all qualified entries based on their given criteria. Judges will then select from the ten lucky entries a winner for each prize level based on the Judging Criteria.

“Judges will select ten (10) entries from among all eligible entries based on the following criteria (“Judging Criteria”):(1) Creativity 50%; (2) Photographic quality 50%. The entries selected in Round One will proceed to Round Two. In Round Two, the Judges will collectively select a Winner for each prize level based on the Judging Criteria. In the event of a tie, the tied entries will be re-submitted to the Judges for a re-judging between the tied entries alone. In the event that a tie remains after re-judging, the entry with the highest score in the creativity criteria will be declared the winner,” as stated on the contest rules.

This year’s prizes include a National Geographic Galápagos Photography Expedition, a Santa Fe Workshop, a National Geographic Traveler Seminar and $200 gift certificates to B&H Photo. Winners will be chosen on or about July 25, 2012 and will be notified by e-mail. Decisions of the judges are final and binding.
