Suspension of classes for November 7 & 8, 2013 (Philippines)

Local Government Units in some parts of the Philippines suspends classes on all levels due to the anticipation of Super Typhoon Yoland with an international code name (Tropical Storm Haiyan). The following LGU’s have already declared class suspensions for November 7 and 8, 2013.
Albay – all levels (Nov. 7)
Bohol – all levels (Nov. 7 and 8)
Cebu – all levels (Nov. 7 and 8)
Dumaguete – all levels (Nov. 7 and 8)
Additional list of LGU’s who will be announcing the suspension of classes due to Bagyong Yolanda will be added here as soon as available.


According to PAGASA’s latest weather bulletin released at around 5:00 PM, today, November 6, 2013, the eye of the typhoon with international name “Haiyan” was located at 1,221 kilometers east of Mindanao (7.7ºN, 137.4ºE) with maximum sustained winds of 175 kph and gustiness of up to 210 kph at around 4:00 PM according to PAGASA. It is forecast to move west northwest at 30kph.

FORECAST: THE WHOLE COUNTRY WILL EXPERIENCE PARTLY CLOUDY TO CLOUDY SKIES WITH LIGHT RAINS OVER THE REGIONS OF CAGAYAN VALLEY, CORDILLERA, ILOCOS AND CENTRAL LUZON  WHILE METRO MANILA AND THE REST OF THE COUNTRY WILL HAVE ISOLATED RAINSHOWERS OR THUNDERSTORMS MOSTLY OVER THE EASTERN SECTION.

MODERATE TO STRONG WINDS BLOWING FROM THE NORTHEAST WILL PREVAIL OVER LUZON AND VISAYAS AND THE COASTAL WATERS ALONG THESE AREAS WILL BE MODERATE TO ROUGH. IN MINDANAO, WINDS WILL BE LIGHT TO MODERATE COMING FROM THE NORTHEAST TO NORTH WITH SLIGHT TO MODERATE SEAS.
