First Pinoy Junior Masterchef Kyle Imao to Grace the 5th Annual Food and Beverage Expo

This March 1 (Thursday), 10 am at the PICC, Kyle Imao, hailed as the first Pinoy Junior Masterchef will be in the midst of major players in the food and beverage industry.

The 12-year old champ will do the ribbon cutting for Tradecon as it launches its 5th Annual Food and Beverage Expo and HORECA (Hotel, Restaurant and Caterers Expo) which will run until March 4.

Over 300 exhibitors will be present at the expo, including both local and international suppliers, distributors, and manufacturers. International exhibitors from Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, Korea and the United States will also showcase their products.

Kyle Imao is the winner of Pinoy Junior Masterchef 2012 (Philippines)

Kyle named 1st Pinoy 'Junior MasterChef'

Junior Masterchef Pinoy Edition, ABS-CBN’s top-rating kiddie cooking show, has declared Kyle Imao as the competition’s Grand Winner on Saturday.


In the first challenge, the Final 4 were given a ‘limited budget’.

The kiddie cooks were given P300 each to market ingredients for a ‘budget recipe’. They had to serve up practical and easy-to-cook dishes from affordable ingredients.

Average points garnered by the finalists from the judges were as follows:
  • Kyle Adrian “Kyle” Imao, 12 years old, Marikina - 22.7 pts.
  • Philip Dave “Philip” Amarillo, 13 years old, Cebu - 20.7 pts.
  • Mika Kristina “Mika” Tanaka, 11 years old, Quezon City - 19.0 pts.
  • Antonio Carlos “Jobim” Jalbuena, 13 years old, Makati - 16.7 pts.
In the second challenge, the finalists were given a ‘limited time’ of 30 minutes only to cook their ‘dream dishes’.

The scores obtained by the finalists from guests were:

  • Kyle - 22.1 pts.
  • Philip - 21.9 pts.
  • Mika - 23.0 pts.
  • Jobim - 19.7 pts.
After sampling and criticizing the kiddie cooks’ dishes, celebrity host Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo and judges Chef Ferns, Chef Lau, and Chef Jayps named the First Pinoy Junior Masterchef.

The final scores were:
  • 1st Junior MasterChef - Kyle: 91.8 pts.
  • 2nd Place - Philip: 91.1 pts.
  • 3rd Place - Mika: 84 pts.
  • 4th Place - Jobim: 73.4 pts.
As the champion, Kyle won P1 million cash and a culinary scholarship worth P1.5 million as well as a Samsung Galaxy Tab, among other prizes.

Meanwhile, P500,000 was awarded to Philip, and P250,000 each to Mika and Jobim. Each of them also received the latest microwave oven model from Samsung.

Junior MasterChef Pinoy Edition is a competitive cooking game show in the Philippines adapted out of the British show Junior MasterChef.

The show’s grand finale dubbed “The Live Cook-Off” was held at the Treston International College at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig and aired live on ABS-CBN on Saturday, February 18, 2012.
