Report from ABS-CBN News:

MANILA, Philippines – Defending champion Talk N’ Text survived a thrilling match against Petron by pulling off a 93-91 win in Game 5 of their semifinals showdown in PBA Philippine Cup.

The Texters notched their 2nd win in the best-of-7 series by outhustling the Boosters in the dying seconds of the game.

Jason Castro, who has been a non-factor for the Texters in the semifinals, exploded with 22 pts, 5 rebounds and 5 assists.

“Kelangan namin ng isang panalo para ma-regain ang kumpiyansa kasi ‘yun ang nawawala sa amin nung past few games. Sana magtuloy tuloy,” said Castro.

Talk N’ Text was staring at a 3-1 deficit in their semis series prior to their Game 5 win.

Texters coach Chot Reyes said Game 5 for his team was all about survival.

“All we wanted tonight was to play again on Sunday so we got it and now we'll see. On Sunday's game all we want is to play again so we will be alive after Sunday. It's just a battle of survival for us,” he said.

The Texters were enjoying an 82-74 advantage over the Boosters on Catro's charities early in the fourth quarter, but a 9-4 exchange by Petron capped by Lordy Tugade's triple midway the fourth brought the Boosters within 3 points, 86-83.

After Chris Lutz's free throw shot, Ranidel de Ocampo drilled a 3-pointer from the corner to give Talk N' Text an 88-85 breather.

Ali Peek's charity brought the Texters' lead to 89-85 but Arwind Santos' booming triple chopped down Talk N' Text's lead to 1, 89-88, 1:51 minutes remaining in the game.

Danny Ildefonso pushed the Boosters ahead, 91-90, with a beautiful shot from beyond the arc, following Peek's free throw shot, 1:41 remaining.

But the Texters held on, as Alapag clocked in a perimeter shot to bring back the lead to Talk N' Text, 93-91.
Petron tried to recover in the dying seconds but Santos failed to sink in a potential game winner and this allowed Talk N' Text to walk away with the Game 5 win.

Powerade takes series lead over RoS

Powerade, meanwhile, moved just a win away from securing a finals seat by hammering a 110-108 victory over Rain or Shine in their best-of-7 semis series.

JV Casio teamed up with Gary David and Marcio Lassiter to pull the Tigers out from a 106-100 deficit in Game 5.

Casio, a former De La Salle standout, scored 25 points to help Powerade get a 3-2 lead in the series.
“This is the time for him to shine,” said Powerade coach Bo Perasol of Casio in PBA.ph

“But the series is not yet over. What just happened was we put ourselves closer to making the Finals. That game is too far if we’re not going to play defensively.”

David top-scored for the Tigers with 28 while Lassiter added 19.
