New judge Britney Spears walks off X-Factor Auditions?

But Britney Spears has denied that she walked off stage in Austin, Texas today.

The 30-year-old singer explained to her fans that she was merely taking a break.

'#Britneywalksoff??? LOL was just taking a little break people. I am having the BEST time!!!' she wrote on her Twitter page.

Earlier in the day it was alleged that she had left the panel in the middle of auditions.

It was first reported by an eyewitness that she took off after a budding contestant did a terrible rendition of her hit song, Hold It Against Me.

According to TMZ, the star was absent during four auditions, with an empty seat seen on stage between Simon Cowell and Demi Lovato.

The eyewitness said that Britney was accompanied off stage by her fiance Jason Trawick.

However, Britney appeared in good spirits throughout the auditions, even tweeting her excitement surrounding her first big day and the talent she had thus far seen.

'Texas has a lot of talent - seriously! Loving @TheXFactorUSA auditions so far... (at X Factor),' she wrote on her Twitter page around the same time after the alleged seat vacating.

The supposed ordeal comes as the Toxic star made a dazzling entrance into the Austin, Texas auditions earlier in the day.

Britney’s ash blonde hair looked freshly dyed and it was styled into tumbling waves for the occasion.
She'd also had fake talons put on after she was spotted with bloody and bitten nails at the Fox UpFront Presentation in New York on May 14.

Britney posted on Twitter upon her arrival at the studios: ‘Just arrived for @TheXFactorUSA auditions - hope everyone is ready! Still waiting on @SimonCowell of course....’

Meanwhile Simon tweeted what appeared to be a joke response to the singer.

'I have been waiting for @britneyspears for two hours. Still can't find her. @TheXFactorUSA' he wrote, then later adding: 'Into the lion's den!'
