VIDEO: Ace Young proposes to Diana DeGarmo on American Idol Finale!

> Following their appearances on American Idol, many former contestants have gone on to perform in Broadway shows. Constantine Maroulis was nominated for a Tony thanks to his work in Rock Of Ages. Clay Aiken wowed audiences in Spamalot, and through a strange coincidence, both season three runner-up Diana DeGarmo and season five seventh place finisher Ace Young wound up in a production of Hair. Having been on different seasons of the reality competition show, neither knew the other, but something clicked as soon as they met.

Casual dates turned into a serious relationship which evolved into cohabitation, and earlier tonight, the couple took another huge step. Appearing on the season finale of American Idol, Young brought his love on stage, got down on one knee and proposed. She said yes, and the two celebrated while Seacrest smiled and held onto the ring box like any affable host would.

Over the years, American Idol has produced a lot of stars. Now the loveable show has produced a touching engagement between two extremely well-liked contestants. They may not have won the ultimate prize, but they’ve cleared achieved something more special.
