The new City will be just slightly different from the current model with Honda deciding to retain the mechanicals. This means the new City will only look different but the engines and the driving experience will be pretty much the same. The face-lifted City has been launched in Thailand already and the image here is from Thailand.
Honda has decided not to invest too much in to the City's looks now as it has a petrol engine only and the chances of its sales improving drastically following the face lift are low considering the high demand for diesel cars. Honda is still developing a small diesel engine that is suitable for the City and we expect a complete makeover for the sedan once the diesel engine is available.
As far the 2012 Honda City's engine specifications are concerned, it will continue to be powered by the 1.5-litre IBTEC petrol engine paired to a five speed manual gearbox. We do not expect Honda to increase the price of the City considering the small amount of changes and the prevailing market conditions.
Meanwhile Honda has decided to completely shut down production of the Brio small car in India due to short supply of parts from Thailand. The carmaker had earlier announced plans to reduce production of the Brio substantially. But today's news suggest the supply of parts has completely dried up and Honda India has no other option but to close production. This will mean buyers of the Brio will need to wait much longer than expected.
