According to Indian Express Report, encouraging students of schools run by it not to miss even a single day, Chennai Corporation today passed a resolution to reward those achieving 100 per cent attendance in an academic year with a cash prize of Rs 1,000.

A resolution to reward students with 100 per cent attendance on every Independence Day was passed today by the Corporation Council.
"Private schools have this scheme to encourage students come regularly. We are doing it for the Chennai corporation Schools. It's very important for students to attend schools, as we are focussing on improving the standards of teaching also," Venkatesh said.
Coming August 15, the first set of students will be rewarded for the academic year 2011-12.
Chennai Corporation runs 282 schools in the city.
