Phivolcs canceled the Tsunami alert in Visayas and Mindanao as of 2:30 PM, according to MalacaƱang.

Presidential Spokesperson Edwin Lacierda in a statement said President Benigno Aquino III “has been informed and is being constantly updated of the situation” and “already tasked PHIVOLCS to monitor the affected areas for further seismic activity.”

“DSWD personnel are already on standby to lend support and relief to affected citizens,” Lacierda stated.

He said people in affected areas are implored “to remain vigilant and take the necessary safety precautions.”

“Let us cooperate with government agencies, allow them to do their work, and remain calm and watchful,” Lacierda added.

Meanwhile, NDRRMC chief Usec. Benito Ramos in an interview advised residents in the affected areas not to return to their homes yet and instead stay in open areas due to aftershocks that may occur within the next several hours.
