Last January 29, Maxene sang Eraseheads’ hit song “Pare Ko” in a duet with her brother Hero.
Televievers immediately turned to social networking site Twitter to give their reactions on Maxene’s off-key singing. Many lambasted her performance.
The young artist just laughed off the issue. According to Manila Bulletin Online, Maxene “just made light of the criticisms and even thanked her haters.” She pointed out that she wasn’t irked by them, the report said.
“Kung makalait kayo, KAYO NA ANG PERFECT! I AM ME. Keber sa inyong lahat! #peacebewithyou :)” she tweeted, according to the report.

The criticisms, which sparked a ‘word war’ between her fans and haters, continued to flow in the comments section of the popular video-sharing site YouTube.
YouTube user “mimichi13” said: “simula pa lang palpak na.. .. nagmukha tuloy talaga siyang tanga from the lyrics itself.. Ohh Diyos ko! Ano ba naman ito...”
“Who cares! atleast tama naman ang lyrics ! She can't sing but she can Rap. i<3Maxene :),” one “arachnomancersz” commented.
“AQWdeathGian” gave an advise: “Wag na kasing trying hard.”
“louiemarfil016” replied: “@AQWdeathGian Grabeh ka naman, akala mo kung sino kang perpekto! Pero halata naman masyado! Sa sobrang gaspang ng ugali siyang pangit rin ng pagmumukha mo! Atleast si Maxene magada, kaw gwapo ka ba? GAGO! BASTOS!”
“Pretty sya. She has the face but not the voice. Pare ko can be sung easily even by my 5yr old :),” YouTube user sansu13 commented, and then after a while added, “Kung videoke, ok lang . Kaso national tv..sana di na lang pinapakanta ang mga non singers kasi. Wawa tuloy.”
