The Android Market, Google’s online store for applications, games, videos, electronic books and music is now known as Google Play Store. The company (Google Inc.) renamed the store ”to make it clearer to consumers that Google offers a broad catalogue of content in addition to the apps programmed for smartphones and tablets based on its Android operating system.”

Android is vying to be the world’s No.1 smartphone operating system being used by smartphone brands like Samsung, LG, Motorola, Sony Mobile, and HTC, among others. The market contains almost 500,000 apps developed by Google and third-party developers.
