Alakim's Wife Allegedly Commits Suicide (Philippines)

> Maricar de Paz, wife of magician and Pilipinas Got Talent finalist Allan de Paz, popularly known as Alakim, allegedly committed suicide using a .38-caliber pistol while they were having a quarrel.

Initial police investigation reportedly showed that Maricar shot herself in the right side of her chest at the height of an argument with Alakim at around 3 a.m. on Tuesday, April 3, 2012.

Police said the incident took place while the couple were inside their Honda CRV car infront of their residence in Lamar Village, Barangay Parang in Marikina City.

Reports said Alakim immediately brought his wife to the Marikina Valley Hospital but doctors declared her dead on arrival.

Alakim in a statement admitted that he and Maricar had a misunderstanding. Investigators reportedly suspect that jealousy is the reason of the couple’s heated argument.

The possibility of foul play is reportedly being looked into by police.

The gun used is reportedly owned by Alakim. The couple both own guns for target shooting, authorities said.

ABS-CBN’s TV Patrol reported on Wednesday, April 4, that police charged Alakim with parricide.
