MANILA, Philippines - A 29-year-old man died while on vacation in Puerto Galera after joining a beer-drinking contest.
Puerto Galera Police chief Major Art Catalbas Jr. said Nino Maralit was declared dead on arrival at the Delos Reyes Clinic on dawn Saturday.
Maralit was an employee of Tongshing Electronics Philippines and a resident of Bigain 1st, San Jose, Batangas.
According to his colleagues, Maralit joined a beer-drinking contest organized by a tobacco firm at a resort in White Beach.
They noticed he had drank too many and advised him to stop and rest awhile.
After a few minutes, they noticed Maralit was already not breathing. He was given first aid and was rushed to the hospital
