ANC on Monday, April 23, 2012, aired a live video of the violence that erupted in Sucat, Parañaque amid the demolition at the Silverio Compound.
The live shots showed residents in the area throwing stones at the anti-riot police who retaliated with tear gas.
Parañaque Mayor Jun Bernabe in an phonepatched interview said the demolition was ordered by court.
Bernade explained that the tension escalated because the residents did not believe that only the fish market with stalls that block the road will be demolished and not their homes, at least for now.
I can't imagine how this guys did that bloody and very brutal attack to each other. The worst thing is that, one man ended his life by protecting their place not to demolish. Government officials must aware on this situation and prevent not to happen this again.
