Channel NewsAsia reports that Ong was held by police for questioning.
In the video, which went viral in the internet after it was uploaded on YouTube, Ong shouted at the woman and threatened to slap her before shoving her off the bus.
Authorities reportedly classified the act as “voluntarily causing hurt.”
A witness of the incident, Tina Chang said “it was not a light push, it was hard.”
Chang added that had the old woman not been able to grab the handle on the door when she fell, “she would have flown off,” the report said.
Meanwhile, Ong reportedly said in his Facebook page that he is suffering from “clinical depression.”
In his blog, Ong also explained that the incident was “the result of anger simmering inside him, the difficulty of finding a good job, and even at the recent fatal crash involving a Ferrari and a taxi.”
Netizens were outraged after watching the video. Many had bashed Ong in his Facebook page which resulted to name calling and bullying. Some even called authorities to have him arrested.
According to other news sources, Ong eventually took his Facebook page down.
As of this posting, there are no reports that Ong has been charged.
