One Direction, a small California pop-rock group, has filed a multi-million dollar lawsuit for trademark infringement against One Direction, the British boyband who rose to stardom since joining in 2010 Simon Cowell’s talent show in the United Kingdom, “The X Factor.”
Also sued are Cowell’s production outfit Syco Entertainment and Sony Music.
A Reuters report says attorneys representing the California band are seeking an injunction that would stop the respondents from using the name One Direction in promotional materials.
The complainant says they are is entitled to thrice the profits made by the boyband, as well as compensatory damages in excess of $1 million, the report said.
