Sen. Miriam Santiago Grills Napoles on Senate Hearing (Video)

> Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago made one of the most interesting scenes during the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee Hearing on Thursday, November 7, 2013. The Senate’s most powerful committee have been conducting hearings for the past few months in various issues in aid of legislation.

The invitation of Napoles and the whistle-blowers is the sixth hearing session of the committee. During the hearing, Sen. Santiago  advised Napoles to divulge her knowledge of the multi-billion peso Pork Barrel controversy.

According to the article at PhilNews Blog, the Senator lectured Napoles and the public regarding some rules of law, before firing several questions to the alleged mastermind of the Pork Barrel issue. Due to some questions that was not answered by Napoles, Santiago suggested to Napoles to “only invoke her right against self-incrimination.”

The 68-year-old Senator Santiago asked Napoles to confirm if Senators Juan Ponce Enrile, Jinggoy Estrada and Ramon Revilla Jr. are the persons in the alleged scam preferred to as “Tanda,” “Sexy,” and “Pogi.” But Napoles only invoked her right against self-incrimination.
 

One of the most important tip given by Senator Santiago to Janet Napoles is a friendly suggestion which she stated “This is a friendly tip from a lawyer,” Santiago told Napoles. “Tell the truth before the senators affected will have you assassinated.” Sen. Santiago stated.

Senator Santiago also asked Napoles how much JLN Corporation earned and wondered how a relatively small company could sustain the Napoles family’s posh lifestyle but she refused to answer the question and mentioned that a case has already been filed in the Bureau of Investigation.

Aside from the impressive questionings given by the brilliant Senator Santiago, she also delivered some tirades which alludes to her nemesis, Senator Juan Ponce Enrile, Santiago then moved to convince Napoles to speak by enumerating the benefits of being a state witness.

Senator Santiago stated that if Napoles isn’t the most guilty, she may be eligible to become a state witness, he said, “Sino and most guilty? Hindi mo alam? Alam ko eh…senador, because he owns an empire!” Santiago added.
